Exhibition Overview

A collection of exemplary wearable artworks which demonstrate innovation and interpretation of compression resist techniques. For example, shibori and ikat used to redefine ideas of body adornment, fashion and costume. The aim of this exhibition is to display wearable works by international and Mexican artists, who challenge traditional mediums, designs and applications.

Submission Details

Accepted artwork will be printed in the official 10ISS exhibition catalogue. Each participating artist who attends the symposium will receive a complimentary exhibition catalogue. For those artists who are accepted but not attending the symposium, you will be able to purchase the catalog at a reduced price ($100).

Images and Formatting

  • Not to exceed 4 images per entry .
  • Filename: Title each image with name typed: FirstInitialLASTNAME and number of image. Example: JJOHNSON-1.jpg” “JJOHNSON-2.jpg” “JJOHNSON-3.jpg”
  • Type: JPG or TIFF formatting Hi-resolution image at least 300 dpi
  • Images for each entry, 1 full shot (#1) and one or two detail shots (#2, #3)

Size
Maximum height: 3 meters (9.8 ft), maximum width: 6 meters (19.6 ft) when installed.

Installation
Instructions must be easy to understand, in Spanish or English. All installation hardware must be included with artwork. No mannequins are available, wearable pieces will be hung with hanging rods.

Shipping
Artwork must arrive in Oaxaca by October 15th, 2016.

Artists will be required to ship the artwork to the specified 10iss receiving address in Oaxaca City with a pre-paid return shipping label inside, which ISS will then use for the return shipping of the artwork. Artists should use Fedex, DHL or UPS to send their artwork.

Customs Declaration
The maximum value for customs declaration of each artwork is $90.00 USD. Otherwise, the artist must arrange and be responsible for any payments due to customs upon arrival of the artwork.

Insurance
10iss cannot provide insurance for the exhibited artworks. Artists must purchase their own individual insurance for the artworks. 10iss will be responsible for the documentation of the arrival and return shipping of the artworks in their respective packaging.
